Do you have a place that you would call ‘heaven on Earth’? I do, and this is mine — my red cabin in Norway. Modest and traditional, this is probably the epitome of a Norwegian ‘Hytte’, where the word luxury translates to ‘your shoulders instantly lowering themselves’. You’re not only completely and truly yourself, you’re also in the landscape – and let the landscape into you.
In this winter scene, it feels like the red cabin is there waiting for someone — and that’s how I think of it when I’m not there. I keep it in my heart where it waits for me until the next time I arrive. The title ‘Gullbotn’ refers to the name of the area depicted, which would roughly translate to ‘the Golden Glen’.
